A taxi ride home
I hailed this taxi cab at around two thirty in the morning after work one day. I was so wasted from work that I never wanted to engage in a small chat, much more a philosopical discussion.
Now, this driver, who was an old man, seemed so happy and contented about his life that he was just humming a tune to himself. He was old and gray and was wearing thick eyeglasses, one that you'd be able to see Jupiter with if you wore one. He was humming an old kundiman lovesong. Being the curious, antagonist cat that I am, I asked him how was he still able to hum in the midst of the confusion in life. His answer was simple. He told me that as long as you take each step at a time, a minute of each day at a time, and learn to savor it as if it were your last, you'll forget all the chaos in the world and see things differently. With that, he continued humming.
Someday I want to be just like that cab driver, humming life's troubles away...

don't we all envy the taxi driver?
yeah...i've been witness to these pleasant hummings.
it amazes me and puts a smile on my sad face...always.
with us, it's always the endless searching!
career, money, and maybe love (well actually love first...not!)
it's a sad never ending quest.
easier said than done...

i try hard really...
but we live not in fields of gold and silver.
it's quick sand.
floating around throws you into a pit.
i say this now but tomorrow will be a new day.
